How to make any page the homepage for your SharePoint site

Did you know you can make any page on your SharePoint site the default home page, replacing the existing home page?

What is the homepage?

The Homepage is the default page of a SharePoint site. When you type in a URL and go to a site, you will land on one page that is the set homepage of a site.

On modern SharePoint sites this page is not shown in the URL, however if you have a classic site, you might see /sitepages/home.aspx at the end of the site URL.

So how do you change it?

As your site develops and grows, you may have another page that would be a better option to be your site homepage. So, here’s how you make the change.

1. If you don’t already have a page you want to make the home page, then create one by clicking New > Page

2. Navigate to Site settings > Site contents

3. Navigate to your page library

4. Either right click or click the 3 dots next to the page you want to make your new homepage then click “Make Homepage”

5. Then refresh your site URL and you will see that your homepage has now been replaced.

Easy!

You can also “undo” this change any time by navigating back to your page library and repeating the steps above for the page that was the previous homepage.
