Favouriting files and folders in SharePoint and OneDrive

This one has been a long time coming! After many requests from customers and countless workarounds, I’m super excited that the ability to favourite files and folders in SharePoint and OneDrive is now available. Whether it’s a personal working file in your OneDrive or a shared document in a SharePoint library, you can now “favourite” files to easily access them in one place.

How it works

  • Navigate to any document library in SharePoint or to your own OneDrive for business.

  • Right click or click the 3 dots on any file or folder and select “Favourite”

  • You’ll then see a pop up in the top right to confirm that your file or folder was added to “Favourites”

Where can I find my “favourite” files and folders?

  • Navigate to your OneDrive for Business online (note favourites do not show up within your synchronised OneDrive via file explorer – only the web version)

  • Click on “Favourites” to see all your files and folders

  • Simply click the star next to your file or folder to “un-favourite” at any time and they will be cleared from your list
