Boost your SharePoint News!

In case you missed it, SharePoint news has a new feature called “Boost”, which allows you to show important news and announcements at the top of news feeds across Microsoft 365. You can even determine an expiry date for your boost, after which the news post will return to its normal position in the news feed.

How to Boost a news post

Firstly, you’ll need to be posting your news from a SharePoint Home Site or Organizational News Site.

Once you have posted your news article, you will see a “Boost” button and icon on the toolbar of the article.

Click this button and it will open the Boost pop up window.

Toggle the Boost button to “On” to boost your news. In this window you can also select a date that you want the Boost to expire, and if you have Boosted multiple items, you can change the order here as well.

Click Save to save your changes.

From an administrative side, once you have enabled Boost, five new columns will be created on your Site Pages Library:

This will help to give you an overall view of upcoming expiry dates for Boosted items and the order of them if you have multiple Boosted articles.
